Quel est le problème résolu ?

The Coastal Douglas-fir (CDF) biogeoclimatic zone’s ecosystems, characteristic to southern BC, are among Canada’s most biodiverse with some of the greatest carbon storage capacity. The most incontrovertible way to mitigate climate change is to protect, steward, and restore ecosystems.

Comment est-il résolu ?

This work aims to 1) safeguard ecological sanctuaries for future generations, guided by management regimes that support W̱SÁNEĆ food systems and education programs; 2) restore ecological communities to maximize carbon sequestration and resilience; and 3) build a habitat connectivity corridor.

Qui sont les clients potentiels ?

By purchasing, connecting, and restoring habitats within the CDF zone, this campaign aims to safeguard ecological sanctuaries for future generations, guided by management regimes that support W̱SÁNEĆ food systems and youth education programs.

En quoi cette solution est-elle différente ?

Our Gulf Island Program’s primary partner is the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (WLC), a unified, legal governing body comprised of three W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations: Tsartlip, Tseycum, and Tsawout. The WLC promotes the interests of W̱SÁNEĆ Nations by enhancing recognition of, and respect for W̱SÁNEĆ Douglas Treaty rights and W̱SÁNEĆ Aboriginal rights and title.
